Extra-long wood screws are prone to slight bending during production due to their extended length. They usually require cold straightening or mechanical straightening to correct any deformation.
Common methods include:
Using specialized straightening equipment to roll or press the screw shaft either before threading or after final forming to ensure straightness.
For ultra-long screws, an additional straightening process after heat treatment may be necessary to correct heat-induced warping.
For wood screws, the requirement for high straightness is relatively low, because wood is flexible and can accommodate slight deviations during installation, especially when using power tools. However, obvious bending can affect insertion smoothness and fastening quality. Therefore, basic straightness is still necessary, particularly for screws longer than 150mm.
