Outdoor timber structures: Used for building balcony planters, treated wood decks, outdoor furniture, etc. Extended screws can penetrate thick, pressure-treated lumber and withstand sun, rain, and weathering without rusting easily.
Building envelope systems: In the construction sector, these screws are key components for fixing roofs, walls, insulation layers, and metal sheeting.
Fixing insulated composite panels: Specialized extended self-drilling screws can securely fasten sandwich panels with insulation cores (such as rock wool or EPS) to the underlying steel or wood framing.
Securing metal sheeting: Used to fasten corrugated metal panels or profiled steel sheets to the supporting structural framework of a building.
3. Size Selection and Versatility
The application range of extended stainless steel self-tapping screws also depends on their specific dimensions, typically selected based on diameter and length.
Slender types (e.g., M2-M4): Suitable for electronic device housings, thin sheet materials, or fine woodworking.
Medium-to-long types (e.g., M5-M6, lengths above 50 mm): Used for load-bearing connections in indoor and outdoor timber structures, capable of drilling through thicker lumber and light-gauge steel framing.
Extra-long types (lengths above 75 mm, i.e., over 3 inches): These are dedicated to construction and heavy structural applications, used for penetrating multiple layers of thick lumber, large timber beams, or structural connections.
